As FACTI has already reported, eco-activists , opposing the plans of "Tesla" to expand its plant near Berlin, yesterday they tried to break into the site of the American electric car manufacturer.
Over 1,000 environmentalists took part in a protest march, the police reported, quoted by DPA and BTA.
However, last night's demonstration was peaceful. The protesters marched from the railway station in the city of Grünheide to the only production complex in Europe belonging to billionaire Elon Musk's company.
A citizens' initiative in Grünheide accuses the American company and the government of the state of Brandenburg of not paying enough attention to the interests of the people in the region. "They continue to do it without listening to the local people," said the spokesperson of the initiative, Steffen Schorcht. "This only serves Tesla's interests," he added.
Another organization expressed concerns that the expansion of the plant would affect the water supply. "The luxury cars "Tesla" pollute and consume the already scarce drinking water around the world," said the organization's spokeswoman, Karolina Djevo. She added that the planned expansion would go ahead despite the majority of Grünheide residents voting "against".
Musk responded to the criticism last night with a post on the "X" platform: "Something very strange is happening as "Tesla" is the only car company attacked".
"Tesla" has been producing electric cars in Grünheide since 2022. The company has always rejected criticism from environmental activists and claims that water consumption has fallen below the industry average.
