An interesting ad for a “fossil“ from the era of socialist engineering has appeared on the Internet. It is about the extremely scarce VAZ-21099, equipped with a rotary engine, the price of which is anchored at the impressive sum of 1 million rubles. At the current exchange rate as of the end of January 2026, this is equivalent to approximately 11,100 euros.

This Lada is a real “wolf in sheep's clothing“. Under the hood, a 1.3-liter rotary-piston unit (VAZ-415) pulses, which generates a respectable 140 horsepower for this coupe and for those years. The engine's power overshadows even the modern 1.8-liter EVO units of the Russian manufacturer. The seller proudly states that the machine has undergone a complete overhaul of the unit, and after the overhaul it has traveled only a symbolic 1000 kilometers.

Visually, the sedan impresses with its unusual stance - the car looks slightly “raised” compared to the standard versions of the Samara, which suggests specific changes to the suspension, imposed by the more special configuration of the power unit. Although the exterior does not shine with the perfect condition of a collector's item, the value here lies in the technical exoticism. Finding such a surviving specimen today is more difficult than finding a needle in a haystack.
