More and more Chinese cars are being sold in Europe - 1

The share of Chinese automakers in the new car market in Europe reached a record 9.5% in December 2025, reported Bloomberg, citing data from the German research company Dataforce.

Sales of Chinese companies are growing due to the popularity of their hybrid and electric vehicles. In addition, in the last quarter of 2025, Chinese manufacturers surpassed their Korean competitors in new car sales for the first time. Dataforce's calculations include countries from the European Union, the European Free Trade Association and the United Kingdom.

Chinese cars are particularly popular in the United Kingdom and southern European countries such as Spain, Italy and Greece. „We are amazed at how quickly Chinese cars have established themselves in southern Europe. We knew that people in these countries are more flexible when it comes to brand choice, but in the electric car segment this was unexpected“, the agency quotes Dataforce analyst Julian Litzinger.

The share of Chinese electric cars in the corresponding segment of the automotive market was 11% in 2025, which is doubled from the previous year. The agency notes that due to the saturation of China's domestic market and US tariffs, Chinese manufacturers are expected to continue to increase their supplies to Europe. This complicates the situation for the European automotive industry, which employs 13 million people and has lost 110,000 jobs over the past year and a half.
