Berlin International Airport will completely cease operations on March 18th due to a strike that will affect approximately 57,000 passengers, according to airport operator FBB.
“Regular passenger flights at Berlin Brandenburg Airport will be suspended on March 18th“, the FBB said in a statement. A total of 445 departing and arriving flights will be canceled.
Earlier, the German service workers' union Verdi announced a 24-hour strike at Berlin Airport on March 18th. The union is demanding a 6% pay increase from FBB for approximately 2,000 employees. The next round of wage negotiations is scheduled for March 25th. Through its strike, Verdi is increasing pressure on its employer.
