The American corporation Amazon intends to invest up to $25 billion in Anthropic, the developer of the Claude chatbot powered by artificial intelligence (AI), the company's press officer announced.
“Amazon will invest $5 billion in Anthropic now and an additional $20 billion in the future“, the statement said.
No specific timeframe was given for the additional investment. As part of the partnership, Anthropic itself has committed to spending more than $100 billion on AI chips and cloud computing services from Amazon over the next 10 years. The chips will provide Anthropic with up to 5 GW of additional computing power to run its AI models.
The companies have been collaborating since 2023 to develop AI chips, deploy generative neural networks across industries, and build data centers. According to the company's press service, Amazon has already invested $8 billion in the AI technology developer.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees and is quickly becoming a leading player in AI development. The company first introduced its flagship product, Claude, in 2022, attracting significant investment, including from tech giants Google and Amazon.
