The Sofia Appeals Court is deciding whether to release Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev, who was detained in early July on charges of participating in an organized criminal group for corruption crimes.

The interrogations of three new witnesses were presented in the courtroom. It concerns two businessmen and a foreign citizen - an investor with a secret identity, who requested to be a protected witness because he expressed fears for his life.
They said that they were asked for bribes, but in connection with procedures for the preparation of Detailed Development Plans in connection with their investment projects.
Last week, the appeals court released under house arrest the municipal councilors Nikolay Stefanov and Yordan Kateliyev, who were detained with Kotsev.
