The detained 15-year-old boy who fatally stabbed his peer with a knife has a number of criminal records. The victim - a tenth-grade student, is an athlete with no criminal records. The boy died shortly after being taken to the emergency hospital "Pirogov".
The man who transported the teenager to the medical facility spoke out on BTV. Stefan Stefanov said that he was with his family in the mall when he heard screams: "The child is dying, the child is dying". He decided to help. He asked the security guards to assist, grabbed the child in his arms and put him in his car. At that moment, the 15-year-old boy was unconscious, and his cousin was with him.
Stefan says that he realized that a 112 call had already been made, but he decided that the boy was dying and therefore decided to provide first aid.
According to him, it took him just a few minutes to get to the hospital, where the child was immediately admitted to an anti-shock room.
Stefan has already been questioned by the SDVR. They also showed him footage from the cameras on which the perpetrator was seen, the man says. In less than 5 seconds - the argument between 15-year-olds Krasimir and Georgi escalated into murder. This is shown by video recordings from the shopping center, the SDVR say. According to their information, both boys were in the mall with friends. The two groups meet, and there is a previous feud between the two 15-year-olds.
“There was no mass brawl between the friendly groups. The fight was between the accused and the victim“, said Desislava Petrova, Deputy City Prosecutor of Sofia. According to initial information, Krasimir punched Georgi. Then he took out a folding knife with a blade about 10 cm long and stabbed the victim in the heart.
There were quite a few people on the floor of the shopping center at that moment, eyewitnesses say. Screams could be heard.
“The child is dying! The child is dying!“ - Stefan Stefanov hears these words and sees a group of people gathered around the 15-year-old boy. “He was stabbed under the breast and his shirt was lifted up to see where the child was bleeding. He was not in contact. They opened the emergency elevators. The security guards called 112, but I didn't wait for either the ambulance or the police," says Stefan.
He took the child in his arms, reached the car and took him to "Pirogov". He said he didn't see anyone running.
"The perpetrator retreated with his friend through the emergency exit. He crossed the "Vazrazhdane" park and reached a tram stop on "Bulgaria" Blvd., from where he moved to one of the addresses known to the police in the "Hristo Botev" district, said the director of the SDVR, Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov. Shortly after being admitted to hospital, the student died. The alleged perpetrator was detained that evening. He cooperates with the police and shows the weapon.
In the last three years, the detainee has been registered for four thefts and one robbery. Because of this, he was placed in a social institution until August last year.
The victim is not known to the police. Before he lost his life, Krasimir was a smiling and problem-free child, says his weightlifting coach. The boy was also preparing for a competition.
“Very talented. He came and trained all summer while his colleagues were at sea. He never got into any conflicts. His eyes said he was a good person“, says Kristiana Koleva. For several weeks, Krasimir has been changing and starting to be late and even skip classes, says his coach.
The 15-year-old youth detained for the murder has already been charged. His remand will also be reviewed in the coming days. Due to his age and the fact that he is a minor, he could receive a maximum of 5 years in prison. In addition to him, another boy was detained yesterday. The cameras show that he is the one leaving the shopping center with the accused. The boy in question was questioned as a witness and then released.
10 more people were also questioned. Regarding the security at the mall, the police said that there was no way they could have prevented what happened because everything happened in seconds.
