Boyko Borisov sees that Delyan Peevski is coming and there are not many moves. Thus, the sociologist at the „Myara“ agency Parvan Simeonov commented in „This Morning“ the reaction of the GERB leader after the elections in Pazardzhik and the subsequent decision to rotate the speaker of the parliament.
„There was a clear message that he wants to become prime minister, but it was immediately met with a response from Mr. Peevski that he will not support a government with another prime minister. The election of Raya Nazaryan as speaker of the National Assembly shows that these people assume that there may be elections and want in the „house book“ to have their own person“, the sociologist commented.
According to him, saying that all power is in the chairman of DPS-New Beginning is only in the service of Peevski.
“We all know the reason for the results in Pazardzhik, but the retreat of GERB in places is also visible. This was the peak of a trend that had been observed even before. It was no coincidence that it came out and reacted against the party's elite. This raises the question of what is happening to GERB“, pointed out sociologist Dobromir Zhivkov from “Market Links“.
According to him, for years Boyko Borisov has been in the role of the most powerful man in the state, now this role is being taken over by Delyan Peevski. “This will destabilize the country, provoke a very serious public reaction and Mr. Borisov will again be prime minister, for the fourth time. And this could lead to elections. Such elections put the current governing coalition at risk and none of the two largest parties wants this to happen, because the risk of a new political force, led by current President Rumen Radev, entering is great," he added.
Parvan Simeonov described Boyko Borisov's speech as "sacrificial". He pointed out that he could not explain his behavior because it was too emotional for a politician with his experience. According to him, in later elections, trust in "DPS-New Beginning" will grow, at the expense of GERB.
Zhivkov commented that early elections can be expected in the event of high public discontent, which can be provoked by next year's budget.
“Let us recall that next year there are presidential elections, political players are starting now to gradually orient themselves. This political struggle, which is currently underway, will gradually have to enter the channel of the idea of how the battle for the presidential position will be fought. We are entering several potential crises – “Lukoil“ with fuel and the war in Ukraine“.
The two sociologists expressed the opinion that if the DPS-New Beginning had officially entered power, this would have led to tension in society.
