A 77-year-old woman died on the spot in a serious accident near Yambol, dariknews.bg reported.
Two others - the driver of the car she was traveling in and a woman from the same car - were transported for medical assistance by a team from the emergency center in Yambol, the Regional Police Directorate announced.
At the moment, there is no danger to their lives, the regional Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Panteleimon” indicated.
The accident occurred at the intersection of main road 1-7, connecting the “Trakia” highway with the “Lesovo” border crossing, and the road Yambol - village of Chargan. The report was filed shortly before 3:00 p.m. Two cars were involved in the incident - an "Audi" driving in the direction of Chargan - Yambol, and a "Kia" driving in the direction of the village of Mogila - Okop. Both cars have Yambol registration.
The victim and the two injured were in the second car. The driver of the "Kia" is 55 years old. He has a concussion and a head wound, and was admitted to the surgery department of the Yambol hospital. The woman is 71 years old. As a result of the incident, she has multiple fractures - of the ribs and sternum, and was admitted to the intensive care unit, the hospital said.
The alcohol and drug tests of both drivers are negative. Procedural and investigative actions are being carried out at the scene. Traffic in the area is being assisted by officers of the “Traffic Police“, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Yambol indicated.
In another serious traffic accident in the Yambol region in October, an 86-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman lost their lives. Their car left the lane and turned into a roadside ditch between the villages of Nedyalsko and Irechekovo in the Straldzha municipality.
