Hezbollah chief of staff Ali Tabtabai was killed on Sunday in an Israeli strike near Beirut, multiple Israeli media outlets reported, cited by Reuters and dariknews.bg.
At least four people were killed in the strike on Beirut, and 24 were injured and taken to hospitals, medical sources reported.
"Israel continues to insist on full compliance with the ceasefire agreements with Lebanon, while taking measures to ensure security," Israeli government spokesman Shosh Bedrosian told reporters after the strike.
"We will not allow the terrorist organization "Hezbollah to recover, regain its strength and threaten Israel from Lebanon," he added.
Tabtabai has been subject to US sanctions since 2016 and is designated by the US as a key leader of "Hezbollah".
