Luminous object and loud rumble over Sinemorets – residents tell of unusual nighttime phenomenon - 1

An unusual luminous phenomenon and a loud rumble over the Southern Black Sea coast caused a wave of comments on social networks. On Sunday evening, residents of Sinemorets noticed a luminous object that moved quickly in the sky and finally disappeared. Part of what happened was captured in a video that quickly gained popularity on the Internet, reports BNT.

Sabrina Dimitrova, a resident of Sinemorets, was among the first to manage to film the object. She said that at around 11:00 p.m. a distant thunderous sound was heard, which within seconds turned into a loud rumble.

"The house started to shake. "I instinctively grabbed the child and went outside to see where the noise was coming from," she said.

Looking up, the woman saw a bright object entering the atmosphere. She managed to film it for about 28 seconds, after which it disappeared, and the noise gradually died down.

According to her, the object was moving vertically downwards - from the direction of Rezovo towards the sea.

"The fear was great. The child started crying because the sound was very loud," Sabrina added.

The mayor of Sinemorets Kostadin Dikov was not a direct witness, but confirmed that many local residents felt the rumble:

"It was felt most strongly in the Rankova neighborhood. I also have signals from Varvara and Ahtopol. "People perceived it as a strong explosion or an earthquake," said Kostadin Dikov.

According to him, the versions among the locals range from a meteor, to a rocket, to various military activities in the region.

In response to inquiries from the Ministry of Defense, they announced that no military exercises were being conducted on Bulgarian territory on the specified day and time. At this stage, there is no official confirmation of the origin of the glowing object.

Various speculations on social networks - including about a meteor or a rocket launched from Turkey - remain unconfirmed. Experts are expected to analyze the video footage and testimonies.

Physicist from the Institute of Astronomy at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Pencho Markishki said in the studio of "The Day Begins" that this object over Sinemorets was in the sky for at least 30 seconds, which is too much time for a meteor.

"Even from slow meteor streams, meteors do not linger that long in the atmosphere before burning up, which leads me to think that it is something much more earthly. In addition, the sound that is heard simultaneously with the phenomenon itself means that it is close to the object, and if it was a meteor, the sound arrives much later, since the meteor flies at an altitude of 80-90 or more km and time passes by before the sound reaches the observer. "What I saw, and after amplifying the sound to hear it better, turned out to be exactly the sound of a low-flying jet aircraft, a sound I have known since my childhood, when such training flights were regularly held in Eastern Bulgaria," explained Markishki.
