"The authorities have nothing to fear. Even the weakest state is stronger than all of business. We have written exhaustively what needs to be changed and what should be replaced. You know how entrepreneurs vote - they run away", said entrepreneur and vice-chairman of the BCCI Krasimir Dachev to Bulgaria ON AIR, commenting on the government's withdrawal of the 2026 Budget.
We are driving investors out of Bulgaria
In his words, just by saying that the "Dividend" tax is being raised, 1 billion euros have left Bulgaria by September.
"The subsidiaries of foreign companies give loans to their parent companies, in addition to these 5 billion leva, which are steadily leaving Bulgaria and are placed at more advantageous placements in other European countries", explained Dachev in "Denyat ON AIR".
The entrepreneur gave negative examples with Norway and Great Britain, which have driven out foreign business with poor state politics.
"The old people said: Smart people learn from other people's mistakes, stupid ones from their own", Dachev noted.
The lottery concession
"I wonder why they are talking about 100-200 million. The turnover in gambling is over 40 billion. Now a state monopolist, who does nothing, will give a foreign monopolist to develop this business. Gambling is very popular in banana republics. Self-respecting countries do not develop gambling", said the deputy chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
They changed the law and took Bozhkov's business. Now it's the same, we'll even bring in a monopolist from abroad, Dachev pointed out.
He was categorical that you can't "dispose of such a profitable business" in this way. According to him, the state is obviously not a good manager.
The case with the assets of "Lukoil"
"The state has an affinity for taking and managing. Politicians work on behalf of the state. The National Assembly votes on these laws, it becomes a group irresponsibility," Dachev analyzed.
In his words, "our people only see the tip of the iceberg, and the work is very thick".
"If someone touches "Lukoil", they're dead. They'll wipe out the whole country. There is a lot of international interest," Dachev warned.
"If someone thinks that in Bulgarian: "I will steal your business", it simply doesn't work that way. Bulgaria has heavy commitments under international treaties. They did a very good job of appointing Spetsov as a special manager - he is there to manage financial flows. He is the ideal person. He is already known in this environment. He will do his job, but not to touch anything else," the guest explained.
Dachev added that Bulgaria has experience with arbitrations, but in this case it is very dangerous.
