Feeding of vultures and eagles has begun in the Balgarka Nature Park - 1

The "Balgarka" Nature Park is one of the three parks in our country that have started feeding vultures and eagles to help the survival of the species. Improving the conservation status of birds is among the priorities for the NATURA 2000 ecological network, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.

By providing food for birds, the sustainability of species with a decreasing or even disappearing population is guaranteed. This is the goal of the project, funded under the "Environment" Program 2021-2027.

The focus is on the populations of the crested eagle, also known as the "imperial", black, griffon and Egyptian vultures in the "Vrachanski Balkan", "Sinite Kamani" and "Bulgarka".

The birds are fed on purpose-built sites, with the main resource of the scavengers coming from animal farms. Incidentally, there is also the possibility of removing dead wild animals found in nature. By minimizing the birds' anxiety and reducing the risks of poisoning, it is hoped that their reproduction will be supported.
