The protest was immediately hijacked by extremist groups around the president. Around oligarchic figures, whose descendants were captured with money, they are returning atrocities and vandalism. So the protest was more of a marketing one. This is what social psychologist Rosen Yordanov said in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the World in Focus" on Radio "Focus".
In his words, the protest was definitely fair, but unfortunately "consumed in the ugliest way by political formations with withering functions and low political culture".
"Right-wing Euro-Atlantic formations are actually sabotaging the entry into the eurozone. Whatever explanations they post on TikTok to deceive young people who quickly consume 10-second clips. These same young people willingly responded to these calls, without realizing what is actually happening. Although formally we are already in the eurozone, there are an extremely large number of pitfalls and the most important of them is that this transition must take place smoothly," Yordanov emphasized.
Regarding the statements of President Rumen Radev after the great wave of protests, the social psychologist pointed out that he does not see what he offers to citizens as an alternative. "The real leader goes out among the people, creates a political formation, defends theses and offers an alternative. You cannot offer an alternative when you only point out what is not, you must also point out what is," the expert is categorical.
"In all this confusion that they are trying to create, we cannot rule out the government's rather erroneous communication approach. It is a fact that Assen Vassilev opened Pandora's box and staked many of these expenses, but it is also a fact that many of the things that were articulated in the public space as absolute lies were not refuted at all. Everyone was babbling about the budget, everyone was saying: "But it is not okay". On top of that, GERB quite frivolously allowed the BSP to ramp up social payments, of course under the auspices that we should not do as Kostov did at the time. But now we have decided to untie the purse strings as if we were handing out plums for garbage on the market. And this led to absolutely justified dissatisfaction of the enterprising and responsible part of the population. But what happened in these protests is definitely not the behavior of this part of the citizens," said Rosen Yordanov.
