The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Commission, Alexander Kolyachev, ordered the launch of national inspections aimed at the justification of the increase in the prices of annual technical inspections of passenger cars.
The decision was made at today's meeting of the Commission and provides for the coverage of technical inspection points throughout the country.
The inspectors will require detailed information from the operators of the points regarding the dynamics of prices, the reasons for their possible increase and evidence that the change is based on objective economic factors.
The requested data, documents, evidence and information enable traders to prove the justification of the increase. The inspections aim to prevent unjustified price increases that directly affect a large number of consumers and to ensure that the pricing policy of traders is transparent and economically justified.
If violations are found, sanctions will be imposed in the amount of BGN 5,000 to BGN 100,000, and in the case of a repeated violation - from BGN 10,000 to BGN 200,000.
The Commission will inform the public about the results of the inspections and the subsequent actions.
