Due to lack of quorum, we cannot start today's meeting of the Health Committee in the National Assembly, said its chairman Kostadin Angelov (GERB-SDF), quoted by BNT.
The Health Committee was supposed to consider the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) budget bill and the state budget bill for 2026.
We have ten MPs present, we need 11, he pointed out. Kostadin Angelov noted that they cannot gather a quorum with one person, according to him, due to a purposely created organization for this.
More important is the meeting of the Budget and Finance Committee, which is leading on all three bills - for the state budget, for the NHIF budget and for the state social security (SSS) budget for 2026, Angelov explained and added that the budget committee is currently meeting.
"I hope that in the remaining days until the end of the year, reason will prevail and that we will not put two of the most important systems at risk - the Bulgarian healthcare system and the social system. There will be no meeting of the Health Care Committee," Angelov concluded and dismissed the assembled deputies and representatives of state institutions and industry organizations.
