In the studio of “Your Day” on NOVA NEWS, journalist and member of the BSP National Council Alexander Simov commented on the start of the consultations with the president and the political tension in the country. According to him, the absence of GERB leader Boyko Borisov from the meeting of “Dondukov” 2 is significant.
On the consultations and the “clash”
Simov defined the exchange of remarks between the head of state and Denitsa Sacheva as a clash between “the irony of one institution and the ironic defense of the other”. He expressed the opinion that in such a critical situation, the leader of the first political force should have been present in person.
„Borisov should have gone to the presidency. Regardless of the feelings, he is the leader of the party”, Simov said.
Regarding the behavior of the PP-DB, he described it as „pathetic romance”, which clashes with reality. „There is nothing more dangerous in Bulgarian politics than the idea that you have no alternative. And this government imagined it. In a parliament with 9 parties, to think that there is no alternative is a form of political suicide”, the socialist was categorical.
Peevski and the system
Alexander Simov also commented on the figure of Delyan Peevski, expressing the opinion that he has no „natural enemies” in the political system, but rather everyone uses him as a convenient opponent when they are in opposition and as a partner when they are in power.
„Delyan Peevski has no natural enemies in the Bulgarian political system. Everyone uses him as a marketing trick. He is wonderful when they are in opposition - to describe the image of the enemy. And interestingly, he ceases to be an enemy when they appear in power”, commented Simov.
According to him, the problem is not in the specific person, but in the way the state functions.
„Peevski is not the problem of the Bulgarian political system. It was created in a way that gave birth to Peevski. Tomorrow it will be someone else, with the surname Ivanov. Tomorrow someone will come dressed up, in a completely different suit, but he will be the same”, he added.
The Electoral Code and the Machines
Simov also expressed his skepticism about machine voting in its current form and recalled the scandals with the codes.
“Until someone guarantees me that there are no codes, I am against machine voting. No one can guarantee completely fair elections in Bulgaria at the moment. The system is compromised on absolutely all fronts”, believes Alexander Simov.
