Consultations with President Rumen Radev on a way out of the political crisis continue. Today, the head of state met with representatives of "Vazrazhdane" and "DPS - New Beginning".
After the meeting, the leader of "Vazrazhdane" Kostadin Kostadinov commented on the situation in an interview for the program “Face to Face“.
According to him, the reason for another political crisis is an exhausted model of governance, in which power is exercised by parties with low public support.
Kostadinov accused the ruling party of systemic corruption, citing examples of highway repairs, inflated prices and poor quality of infrastructure projects. He stated that there are no functioning institutions to which signals can be submitted, and that the prosecutor's office and anti-corruption bodies do not function effectively.
The leader of “Vazrazhdane“ also sharply criticized the process of Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone. According to him, the country was illegally brought in with manipulated data, including on inflation. He insisted on a revision of the National Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Finance and stressed that the lack of a referendum on the topic is an example of a democratic deficit.
Kostadinov also commented on his claims, made earlier to the president, that there is a requirement from European institutions to destroy leva printing machines. In the conversation, he admitted that he did not have a specific document, but referred to “practice in other countries“, stating that he had requested official information from the Bulgarian National Bank.
Regarding the electoral legislation, Kostadinov stated that “Vazrazhdane“ will insist on the restoration of fully machine voting, the creation of counting centers, changes in the composition of election commissions and the abolition of the electoral district "Abroad". According to him, the current system allows for manipulation and leads to low trust in the electoral process. When asked about future coalitions, Kostadinov said that his party is ready to talk only with formations that share its positions on preserving the lev, protecting sovereignty and revising the government. He stressed that the goal of "Vazrazhdane" is independent governance, and in the absence of a majority - a minority government. Regarding a possible partnership with President Rumen Radev, Kostadinov said that Radev's voters recognize "Vazrazhdane" as a close political entity, but stressed that the president himself has not given a clear answer about his position on preserving the Bulgarian lev.
Kostadinov did not comment on speculation that he would run for president next year, stating that his party's current focus is on the upcoming parliamentary elections, increasing voter turnout and removing GERB and DPS from government.
