Nikolay Vassilev: The government went too far with the "Santa Claus budget" - 1

Over the past 5 years, we have only dealt with budgets with elements of scandals, wasteful spending, constant updating, late budgets and chaos. This season has the most scandalous budgets in the democratic history of Bulgaria. It is better for the state to have a regular government than to go to elections 100 times. A way out of every difficult situation can be found.

This was stated by economist and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Nikolay Vassilev to BNT.

According to him, the main reason that the government left is that it went too far with the Santa Claus budget to unprecedented proportions. "My tolerance has long evaporated from five years ago. In recent years, the budgets have been getting worse and worse economically for the future of the state. For me, the extension law on the budget is a better measure, because the first two budgets were pushing the country towards an even greater catastrophe," commented Vassilev, specified news.bg.

According to him, most observers and politicians consider it a given that when the constitutional roulette wheel is turned, the three parties that receive the mandate will necessarily go to elections, but this is not the only possible composition.

"It is better for the state to have a regular government than to go to elections 100 times. A way out of every difficult situation can be found. There may be parties in parliament that think that something could theoretically happen with the first, second, and third mandates,", analyzes Nikolay Vassilev.

According to him, for most parties, the next parliament could be worse than the current one. How many times will we go to elections in 2026, asked Nikolay Vassilev. He pointed out that the big problem is that the country does not have stable governance.

He insisted on concession of all highways, ports, airports, railway facilities, water and sanitation, etc. "For me, concession is a way to build state infrastructure without funds from the state budget, rather than by state hands", Vassilev also said.
