The protests of many thousands in the cities very clearly outlined a dividing line - on one side is the status quo, and on the other - the citizens. This was said in the program “In Focus with Lora Krumova” on NOVA by Ivan Demerdzhiev, former acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, appointed by Rumen Radev.
“The President said that the oligarchy will create clones like “Third March”, which it will attribute as its parties or movements. And he very clearly stated something that Bulgarian citizens should remember - if he decides to participate in politics through a party or through an organization, he will announce it personally. And people most likely expect him to lead it”, explained Demerdzhiev.
According to him, citizens should not succumb to such suggestions. “There will probably be more of them. The very fact of how quickly this was reflected, and in media that in no way sympathize with the presidential institution, shows that another interest is behind it”, he believes.
“The protests of many thousands in the cities very clearly outlined a dividing line. On one side is the status quo, the embodiment of which are Borisov and Peevski, but this is far from being limited to the two of them. This is a model that has managed to exist for 36 years. In my opinion, the Bulgarian services are at its genesis”, commented Demerdzhiev.
According to him, certain people have managed to master these processes themselves and manage them single-handedly for quite a long time. “This couple governs the entire country very visibly and very repulsively for the people. On the one hand, it is now clear that all decisions are made outside the parliament and outside the Council of Ministers, that these are formal bodies”.
“Undoubtedly, the mathematical majority gave false self-confidence to the rulers, who underestimated the protesters, but it is interesting what the formations that gathered in it thought about this issue. What delusions or illusions did they harbor on this issue, because for any sane person there was no illusion that this majority was only in the National Assembly and was cast through vicious elections. I wonder what their goal was”, said Demerdzhiev.
“The parties could have learned from the experience of another political force in carrying out judicial reform, gathering with the same subjects. We saw the result - desecration of the Constitution, crippling of the institutions of the official offices and securing that mathematical majority that we talked about a moment ago,” he added.
