In connection with the upcoming meeting of the Varna Municipal Electoral Commission: GERB leader Boyko Borisov insists and calls again on GERB representatives in the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) not to participate in any possible attempts to terminate the mandate of Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev.
This became clear from a GERB post on Facebook, quoted by novini.bg.
Borisov is categorical that the party does not want an official victory in the seaside city.
"We remind you that at its meeting on 22.11.2025, the GERB Executive Committee, after consultations with the leader Boyko Borisov, decided unanimously to recommend and ask the members of the Varna MEC, who are elected from the GERB quota, to vote "against" the removal of the mayor of Varna.
With this, we gave and are giving a clear signal that GERB never aims at official victories, we do not want GERB and the name of the party and our leader to be included in some kind of political gimmicks that aim to change the majority choice of the people," the publication also states.
