Water and Sewerage Operators, part of the system of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, will not increase water prices proposed by a decision of December 22, 2025 of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), the press center of the department reports. This applies to almost all water companies in the country. The exception is "Sofiiska Voda". The concessionaire there is the French company "Veolia". And the increase is 12%, add "24 hours".
The updated prices for water supply and sanitation services in the country were proposed for implementation from January 1, 2026 based on the business plans approved by the EWRC for the development and operation of water companies. The main motive for this was the implementation of the investment program aimed at improving the quality and security of water supply and sewage services and covering operating costs. Nevertheless, commercial companies with state participation decided not to introduce the new prices for now. The planned increase will not be applied as of January 1. The goal is to ensure the necessary transitional period for a smoother adaptation after the adoption of the euro as the official currency in the country.
Water supply and sanitation operators are committed to informing their consumers in a timely manner of any upcoming change.
