Margarita Petkova: We are in for a big shock with the new currency we are accepting

Margarita Petkova: We are in for a big shock with the new currency we are accepting - 1

2025 was not an easy year for the entire Bulgarian people. If we are realistic, we will accept what is happening. It is difficult to change things with a snap of our fingers - with two protests, a fight in parliament, wars in the streets. The situation is not rosy, it is not only in Bulgaria. This is how poet Margarita Petkova commented on the passing year of 2025 in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".

The end of the year is a time for taking stock - what was in the past year and what we want from the new one. Her expectations are a serious shock with Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone.

"We are facing a big shock with the new currency we are adopting. People are unlikely to walk around with Christmas trees in their hands and they are unlikely to get used to it easily. There will be speculation. I shop on a website. I watch every week how products increase by a leva, by 78 cents. This is scary, in half a year the increase is not double, but triple", said the poetess.

On the air of Bulgaria ON AIR, she shared her opinion that Bulgarians are looking for the one one-eyed soldier who will lead the hundred blind.

"I wish there was a one-eyed person who would look with both eyes, so that in some way we could see that we are following him. Maybe I see him, maybe I want to see him", said Margarita Petkova. The poetess stated that the young people flooded the squares not because of impoverishment.

"The young people do not have pockets, their parents fill their pockets. They do not go out because of their pockets. In 2013, they hit us with idiotic electricity bills and then people went out because they reached into their pockets", the guest recalled. Her expectations are that when converting from lev to euro, prices will be rounded up.

"I am afraid that the caretaker government may make decisions that are not in line with the people and the nation", Margarita Petkova expressed her concerns.

For the new year, she said that unhealthy optimism is not necessary, but that we need to look the truth in the eye and decide what to do. She wished everyone health and clear vision.
