On Wednesday, President Rumen Radev will announce his resignation as head of state before the Constitutional Court and will enter politics to participate in the early parliamentary elections.
These are the latest expectations of politicians from the highest echelons in Sofia. According to them, the president will announce his entry into politics from Plovdiv, where they expect him on January 21, Wednesday, predicts "24 hours".
The post of head of state will be taken over by Vice President Mrs. Iliana Yotova. This is provided for by the constitution. And after she is sworn in as president before the National Assembly, she will also appoint the caretaker government.
According to politicians, it has already been agreed that the deputy governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, Andrey Gyurov, will become the caretaker prime minister, despite his controversial status in the house register. Gyurov is on a long leave from the Bulgarian National Bank after the Anti-Corruption Commission launched an investigation against him. Boyko Rashkov was supposed to become the Minister of Interior in the caretaker cabinet.
He already holds this position in the cabinet of Stefan Yanev, and then in that of Kiril Petkov. While Rashkov was the Minister of Interior, the Ministry of Interior arrested Boyko Borisov. The arrest was subsequently declared illegal.
