Resigned Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov will attend today the signing of an agreement for the state's participation through Bulgarian Energy Holding in the exploration for oil and natural gas in the “Khan Asparuh“ block in the Black Sea, BNR reports.
BEH is expected to acquire 10% of the exploration rights. The project has been identified as key to the diversification of energy sources and the strengthening of the energy security of Bulgaria and the region of Southeastern Europe.
The government points out that for the first time in its recent history, the state will participate as an investor with a share in the rights to search and explore for oil and gas in the Bulgarian part of the Black Sea. This process is expected to open a new important page in the development of the country's energy sector.
