Bulgaria is once again facing a choice, an extremely clear choice - to remain a conquered state, governed as a personal patrimony by the oligarchic Borisov-Peevski model, or to be a full-fledged European state of law, serving its citizens, said "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) in a declaration read by Atanas Slavov from the parliamentary rostrum.

A key moment of the upcoming election is the attitude towards the problems of fairness and justice, the political force points out. From today, every candidate for the government of the state must determine where he stands on the topic of freeing the conquered institutions and what specific vision with detailed steps, initiatives and bills he would propose. This battle is not being fought with general populist slogans and messages, but every day with every decision, with every appointment, with every initiative, noted the PP-DB.

The main demand of the protesting citizens since the end of 2025 was for an end to corrupt governance and for fair justice, Slavov said.

"There will be such a protest today, organized by "Justice for Everyone". A protest that will once again scream in the face of the Prosecutor General, defended by the plush bunnies in the judicial system, to leave the position he usurped," he pointed out.

Over the past few years, "Democratic Bulgaria" and "We Continue the Change" We have consistently defended the ideas of independent and fair justice, of an accountable and responsible prosecution service, working in the public, not in the oligarchic interest. We will continue to do so as before - with specific legislative initiatives, continuous exposure of the backstage circles and dependencies, including in the judiciary itself, said Atanas Slavov.

In the past weeks, we submitted a draft declaration to the National Assembly, with which we called on the acting Prosecutor General to resign from the position, which he has already held in contradiction to the law for six months. We insisted that the Supreme Judicial Council immediately implement the Law on the Judiciary by electing a new acting Prosecutor General with guarantees of his political neutrality, professionalism and integrity, pointed out the PP-DB MP.

The consideration of our declaration was rejected a few days ago by the majority in the Committee on Legal Affairs, said Slavov. Peevski does not allow them, but Borisov and the affiliated small MRFs are implementing them, he commented.

In addition, Slavov pointed out that they have proposed changes to the Judiciary Law that would guarantee the independence of the court and impartial decisions on personnel and disciplinary issues. He added that four months later, this bill was included in the parliament's agenda last week, but conveniently for the majority, it did not come to a vote due to the expiration of plenary time.

The liberation of the institutions is the backbone and the guarantee for our European future and our legal and democratic state, which we truly deserve as worthy Bulgarian citizens, Atanas Slavov also stated.
