The participation of the outgoing president Rumen Radev in the upcoming parliamentary elections and the possible shift in the political field with the emergence of his formation. This was commented on in the show “Face to Face“ on bTV Kuzman Iliev, leader of the party “Bulgaria can“, and Maria Capon, chairwoman of the political formation “We are coming“, part of the newly established Anti-Corruption Bloc.
When asked whether “Bulgaria can“ will run in the elections as the so-called “launch rocket“ for Radev due to the accession of former presidential advisor Alexander Marinov, Kuzman Iliev denied.
“We have a party, a charter, a political resolution, young people and experts who want to offer real solutions for Bulgaria. The president may have his own political project, this is not a surprise, but we are not a borrowed registration“, Iliev said.
He stressed that “Bulgaria can“ is an expert community with clear ideas and a cause.
„Of course, we are open to the president for a conversation, for policies, this is already a partner“, Iliev announced and specified that such a conversation has not yet taken place.
Maria Capon explained the reasons for the Anti-Corruption Bloc's participation in the elections as follows: „A person must believe that politics is within him and that he can work for causes without necessarily being in a mandated position. Our project is long-term – we have been working on the anti-corruption topic for nearly two years, not since yesterday and not because of the upcoming elections“, she said.
The two also answered the question of whether they expect a shift in the political terrain if Rumen Radev heads a new formation.
According to Kuzman Iliev, Radev's move will undoubtedly lead to a serious shift. “Radev is a strong, systematic player with political experience and a good calling card. From now on, he should attract experts and teams. For us, this is an opportunity – to dry up the swamp a little“, said Iliev.
Maria Capon also welcomed Radev's participation in active politics. “He has been on the field for a long time – being president means having gone through elections and being a politician. It is not good for people to be scared. It is best for everyone to stand on the field, show what they can do and run. So – welcome Rumen Radev to the political field“, she said.
