There is no official document on what exactly we joined when we joined Donald Trump's Peace Board. This was stated to bTV by Yordan Bozhilov, former Deputy Minister of Defense.
„With the establishment of the Board, the country becomes a member for three years, without paying 1 billion dollars, and if we want to remain a permanent member, we must pay this money. However, the problem is not the money, but the essence of what is being created. Trump wants this to be UN-2“, he pointed out.
„The Security Council resolution on Gaza provides for the approval of Trump's plan for Gaza and the creation of a peace board, but with functions as a transitional body with a limited term. We are now seeing a new Peace Board without a deadline“, Bozhilov specified.
„I would like to see what the MFA's motives were for Bulgaria's accession. It is unclear how this process went. This is a violation of the law on international treaties – there must be a good analysis and coordination between the ministries. The Constitutional Court can be appealed. However, the international reaction is interesting. The EU's reaction will be interesting“, he added.
For him, Bulgaria's accession to the Peace Board is problematic, especially with the reservations of most EU member states.
