The membership of Bulgaria in the Peace Council of US President Donald Trump, signed by the outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, will not be submitted for ratification within the framework of the 51st National Assembly.
This was confirmed to NOVA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Just days after the signing of the document in Davos, Zhelyazkov announced that a ratification bill would be submitted to parliament next week so that the accession could enter into force. However, the outgoing Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev subsequently rejected this scenario and stated that the decision should be left to the next composition of the National Assembly.
In Georgiev's words, "Bulgaria will be able to choose whether to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the reconstruction of Gaza - to establish lasting peace".
