The strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the United States of America is key to the security and stability of our country and the entire region. The United States is our trusted ally and strategic partner, with whom we share common values, goals and responsibilities.

We discussed the possibilities for further deepening cooperation with an emphasis on security, defense, energy and artificial intelligence. Our political will to strengthen the dialogue with the US Congress and to elevate strategic cooperation to an even higher level was confirmed.
The third session of the Strategic Dialogue between Bulgaria and the US, held in Sofia on December 9, 2025, reported significant progress in areas such as energy diversification, defense, security, trade and investment, computer technologies and artificial intelligence. This format has established itself as the main mechanism for coordination and achieving concrete results for the benefit of our two countries.
Of particular importance is the area of energy security and diversification. Bulgaria is actively working to reduce dependence on a single source and to establish itself as a reliable energy partner in Southeast Europe. The commissioning of the LNG terminal in Alexandroupolis and the progress along the Vertical Gas Corridor create real opportunities for supplies, including liquefied natural gas from the United States.
We confirmed our commitment to the implementation of the project for the 7th and 8th units of the “Kozloduy“ NPP with the American AP-1000 technology, which is of strategic importance both for our energy independence and for Bulgaria's economic development and role as a regional energy center.
