Parliament decides whether to close the Commission for Combating Corruption - 1

Parliament decides whether to close the Commission for Combating Corruption. It is proposed that the functions be divided between the Court of Accounts and the General Directorate "Fighting Organized Crime" at the Ministry of Interior.

The bill to close the CPC enters the plenary hall for final adoption. The GERB-SDF proposal reached the second reading. Yesterday it was adopted by the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs.

It is planned that the investigative functions of the Anti-Corruption Commission will be transferred to the General Directorate for the Prevention of Corruption and Corruption with the assistance of the Investigation Department, and that the Court of Auditors will accept the property declarations of people in public positions and conduct checks to establish conflicts of interest.

Another text of the bill provides for the transfer to the National Security Agency of Bulgaria of all archival cases of operational reporting. The opposition saw possible abuse due to the requirement that the remaining databases containing information about these cases be destroyed immediately, and proposed that it be dropped.

Today's agenda also includes the adoption of a second reading of amendments to the Health Act, which propose the abolition of the penalty for providing medical care by persons who do not have the necessary professional qualifications in the medical profession.

Three more laws will be discussed at first reading - amendments to the Civil Aviation Act, the Road Traffic Act, and the Bill on General Safety Requirements for Providing Attraction Services That Represent a Source of Increased Danger.

The agenda does not include either the amendments to the Electoral Code, which failed two plenary sessions last week, or the ratification of the agreement signed by the outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to join the Peace Council, initiated by US President Donald Trump.
