The municipal council in Kubrat is expected to elect a temporary mayor of the municipality today until partial local elections are held. This was necessary after the Supreme Administrative Court issued a final decision that Alkin Nebi is in a conflict of interest and cannot hold the position.
The Anti-Corruption Commission has established that in the period 2021-2024, Nebi issued orders for overtime work in the preparation of elections, including himself, and received additional remuneration. On Monday, the Municipal Election Commission in Kubrat stripped Alkin Nebi of his powers.
