Milen Lyubenov: If the president is chosen between Gyurov and Glavchev, she would rather choose Gyurov - 1

The key here is to create such conditions that would prevent vote buying and any significant manipulations, such as we saw in the previous elections. This was said in the program "The Day Live" on Nova News by political scientist Milen Lyubenov in connection with the task of the future caretaker government, quoted by novini.bg

The key here will be the role of the caretaker government and the Minister of the Interior. The main expectation for this caretaker government will be to conduct honest and transparent elections, because the previous government of Dimitar Glavchev did not meet this expectation and ended up being quashed by the Constitutional Court, said Lyubenov.

The situation of the future caretaker prime minister would be complicated, but in my opinion, the interior minister should be someone who knows the system from the inside and could quickly orientate himself in it, and who is not part of this model of government, against which citizens protested. This is a double task, added the political analyst.

I think that this will also be someone who has some political experience. In my opinion, who this person will be has also been decided in view of who the next caretaker minister will be. Most likely, informal polls have been conducted in recent weeks regarding who will be the caretaker prime minister and interior minister. When choosing the president between Gyurov and Glavchev, she would rather choose Gyurov, because besides him, the other potential prime ministers are more close to the model against which the citizens protested, associated with GERB and DPS, Milen Lyubenov pointed out.
He also commented on the allegations that there is an agreement between the former deputy chairman of GERB and former interior minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov to build the structures of the political project of the resigned president Rumen Radev.

Structures and a party are built with many people who must be loyal to the leader of the party, but also to the values that this party stands for. If there are transfers from GERB to the new formation, this will be entirely due to clientelistic structures, but this is not a sustainable base, because the clientelistic vote very quickly transfers to the strongman of the day and in this case it is a question of a lack of values. It is difficult to find new faces, but it will be indicative who will stand behind her. From this we can conclude whether she is ready for real reforms, or we will again see a reconfiguration of certain models that undermine democracy rather than support its development, noted Lyubenov.
In his words, after the resignation of the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet, which came after the major protests at the end of 2025, a significant political change has occurred in Bulgaria.

If there is a new governing coalition after the elections, Peevski and Borisov will have very difficult days ahead, the political scientist emphasized.
