Rumen Hristov: Rumen Radev is not a threat to the first place of GERB-SDF - 1

GERB-SDF is working purposefully for the first place in the upcoming parliamentary elections, and President Rumen Radev does not emerge as a real threat to this goal. This was stated by the leader of the SDF, Rumen Hristov, part of the coalition with GERB, in the studio of "Speak Now".

"We are categorically working for the first place. We have achieved it many times, we are mobilized and we are striving for it," said Rumen Hristov.

According to him, the requests for an independent majority of 121 deputies, made by various political formations, including those around Rumen Radev, were unrealistic:

"It is obvious that the idea of an independent majority was overestimated and it cannot happen - neither with one nor the other."

He also commented on the interview with Rumen Radev on the program "Panorama" on BNT:

"My impression is of evasive answers, lack of answers and incomplete answers."

According to Hristov, right-wing politics should be aimed at economic growth, not at redistribution without a real increase in wealth:

"Social states are rich states. You can only distribute when you have something to distribute."

As a key goal, he indicated the doubling of the Gross Domestic Product within one governing mandate:

"I speak on behalf of the UDF – doubling GDP in four years is not easy, but it is doable.

Regarding possible cooperation with a party affiliated with Rumen Radev and with PP-DB, Hristov stated that GERB-SDF is open to talks on judicial reform, but without extremes:

"We have always responded to support reforms that improve the judicial system, as long as they are not eccentric."

Regarding Bulgaria's participation in President Donald Trump's Peace Council, Hristov stated:

"The decision is not to the detriment of Bulgaria, but it was taken hastily and from one day to the next."

On the topic of limiting the sections abroad, he defended the decision with the argument that their number does not significantly affect the election result:

"Votes from abroad usually form up to 3-4 deputies and do not change the majority in parliament."

Rumen Hristov emphasized that the GERB-SDF coalition remains focused on stability, economic growth and a clear Euro-Atlantic orientation.
