Instead of the streets dictating to weak and mean politicians, it is degenerating into a punitive repression on drivers. When politicians are weak and mean, they use informal leaders to lead us in the wrong direction - the driver is to blame for everything. This was stated by the chairman of the Road Safety Institute, Bogdan Milchev, to BNT.
According to him, the protest near Telish is indicative that when the whole society sees that there is an unsafe road and it is not transferred to the RIA, but we are talking about the politicians, the state, the driver and everything else, that the system would change. It is very important to say that a unique phenomenon is being created in Bulgaria, Milchev pointed out, quoted by news.bg.
According to him, there is not a single active driver who has been sanctioned.
Bogdan Milchev criticized that the money from the Road Safety Fund does not go to repair critical infrastructure. 90% of the money from the fund goes to departmental needs of the Ministry of Interior. The Ministry of Interior collects fines of about 100 million leva and they are used for slush funds, the chairman of the Road Safety Institute pointed out.
Bogdan Milchev also criticized the mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev as a "populist" because measures are not being taken in road safety. Terziev made a commitment to reduce the number of accidents in Sofia by 10%, but he did not fulfill any of his promises, he also commented.
"Mr. Terziev is not suitable for his position and does not have the ability to communicate with his institutions. He is in conflict with the Ministry of Interior, the RIA, and everyone. There is one topic on which you cannot be in conflict for everyone. In reality, a mayor, his main task is to guarantee the security of the city," added Bogdan Milchev.
