Over 515 snowplows are clearing the roads of the republic amid the increasing snowfall, FOCUS reported.
The roads are being cleared and are passable in winter conditions, the Road Infrastructure Agency reported.
Temporarily, due to heavy snowfall and clearing, the passage of heavy trucks with trailers and semi-trailers through the "Rozhen", "Prevala" and "Pechinsko" passes in Smolyan region, on road III-865 Ardino – Kardzhali in Kardzhali region, road II-19 Simitli – Razlog through the "Predela" pass, road II-84 Yundola – Razlog, and along road III-198 Gotse Delchev – Katuntsi through the "Popovi Livadi" pass in Blagoevgrad district, road II-84 Velingrad – Yundola and road III-842 Belovo – Yundola in Pazardzhik district. The movement of vehicles over 12 tons through the "Troyanski" pass is restricted.
Passing through the "Prevala" and "Pamporovo" passes is mandatory with chains.
To increase safety and if necessary, it is possible to close individual sections of the routes for processing with inert materials. Where necessary due to strong winds, snow drifts or poor visibility, traffic may be temporarily restricted until weather conditions improve and the road is cleared.
We appeal to you to drive with vehicles prepared for winter conditions, to drive at a speed appropriate to winter conditions, not to undertake risky maneuvers, as well as to overtake snow removal equipment.
Blocking traffic by vehicles that are not prepared for winter conditions makes it difficult for all other drivers to travel and the work of snow removal equipment, the RIA reported.
Travelers reported an accident on the "Trakia" motorway shortly before the "Trayanovi vrata" tunnel on social networks.
Between km 50 and 51 of the motorway in the direction of Plovdiv, a car crashed into the left lane. There are no reports of injuries, but there is material damage.
