A pedestrian has died after a traffic accident in Isperih, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Razgrad announced. The incident was reported shortly after 4:00 p.m. today by calling 112.
According to police data, a “VOLVO“ truck with a semi-trailer attached, driven by a 44-year-old man from the Shumen village of Valnari, when turning right, lost the right of way to a 42-year-old woman from the village of Kitanchevo, who was crossing on a pedestrian crossing. The right tire of the semi-trailer hit the pedestrian in the legs.
The driver's tests for alcohol and narcotics were negative, and the victim's breathalyzer showed 2.46 parts per million of alcohol in her exhaled breath, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior said.
The woman was taken for an initial examination to the Isperih hospital, and was subsequently transported to the Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment in Razgrad with fractures in both legs. She was admitted to the anesthesiology and intensive care unit with a temporary life-threatening condition, where she died the next day.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
