Yavor Bozhankov: Radev is the main strategic threat to Bulgaria - 1

The main political players are "tightening ranks" for the upcoming early elections and are increasing their attention on Rumen Radev both as a main competitor and as a possible ally, NOVA reported.

The MP from the "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" coalition Yavor Bozhankov sharply criticized President Rumen Radev, defining him as a "main strategic threat" not for political formations, but for Bulgaria because of his positions on key issues related to the country's European orientation and foreign policy.

It is still unclear whether Bozhankov will appear on the coalition's lists in the upcoming parliamentary vote. "If I do not participate as a candidate, I will vote and work for our coalition", Bozhankov emphasized and added that the main task at the moment is "to gather support and restore the trust of disappointed voters".

Regarding the current president Rumen Radev, Bozhankov was categorical: He has nothing to show - he has already shown it", referring to his positions on the war in Ukraine, Russia and the European Union. According to him, Radev deliberately distorts reality, including on the topic of "Gazprom", and does not clearly name Russia as an aggressor and a threat to Bulgaria's security.

According to the MP, cooperation with Radev is impossible, even with a strong election result for his future political project. “There can be no compromise when the price is Bulgaria's European orientation“, he said, adding that the choice is not between anti-corruption and foreign policy, but between “East and West“.

According to Yavor Bojankov, the upcoming elections will be a choice not just between parties, but for the strategic future of the country. “In these elections, we will vote for much more than right and left - we will vote for the direction of Bulgaria“, he summarized.
