Against the backdrop of the requests for an upcoming political project around Rumen Radev, former caretaker prime minister and Minister of Defense Stefan Yanev commented on trust in politics, the fairness of the elections and the conditions for political interaction in the program “120 minutes“ on bTV.
He announced that “Bulgarian Rise“ will participate in the early parliamentary elections, specifying that the party is ready to interact with Rumen Radev's formation, but so far they have not held talks.
“We have a party, it participated in elections and will participate again“, said Stefan Yanev.
“I cannot answer on his behalf (on Rumen Radev - ed.), because I am not familiar with the details of what he is doing. Of course, I am observing what is happening and I would say that I believe and hope that what Radev and his team are doing will be able to meet the great public expectations“, he said.
“We witnessed numerous protests at the end of last year. For me, the common denominator is one – distrust in the functioning of the political system. Distrust in Bulgarian policies. From now on, can this trust be controlled, can it be returned to normal limits – in my opinion, yes“, Yanev also said.
And he specified that for this purpose, his focus is on three priorities – transparent and understandable fiscal policy, functioning of the state in a transparent and accountable manner, and the fairness of the elections.
“Perhaps, now, in a pre-election situation, the fairness of the elections is the first priority. Because the legitimacy of any government depends on them. And this is the relationship with the Bulgarians,“ he also said.
