Tsvetanka Andreeva: Radev seemed unsure and somewhat weak on screen - 1

We were all impressed that Rumen Radev gave an interview in a comfortable environment - one in which politicians cannot afford the luxury of functioning. But perhaps this is the first and only interview in which he will be alone, without political opponents, because the format of the show "Panorama" presents different political positions, while Radev presented only his own position.

This was stated in the show "Metronome" on Radio FOCUS by political scientist Tsvetanka Andreeva.

"We learned nothing new about him, nothing different - the expectations were that he would describe the entire process of forming his party, to present his team. For both things, he expressed concerns that he would not be able to handle it, that he would not be able to publicly announce them, because he has some fear that he might be tripped up, which, by the way, made him look insecure and somewhat weak“, said the political scientist.

Andreeva shared that the Democrats are most concerned and afraid of Radev's foreign policy requests.

"Radev remains true to himself in terms of foreign policy, and in my opinion, in terms of domestic policy. The story he told was somehow intended for his potential voters, but this was not the story of a democrat who would use the institutions in this way to improve the quality of life in the country, it was the story of a more autocrat who stands under the banner as if he were going to fight the oligarchy. We will see him as he was for nine years – a person who takes over the institutions, a person who takes advantage of the mechanisms of democracy to absorb more and more power“, she said.

The political scientist also stated that if Radev participates in the executive branch, in her words, he could distort the institutions and take advantage of the mechanism of elections.

"And justify every arbitrariness in his power, every abuse of power, just as he did, by the way, with the institute of the service cabinet, and continue to blame the opposition, the mafia, the scoundrels, etc.“, she said.
