Last night, anti-icing mixtures were applied to the territory of all 24 districts of Sofia Municipality. A total of 118 snow removal machines treated the road surfaces of streets and boulevards used by public transport, as well as main streets in the neighborhoods.
The first treatment began after 8:00 p.m., with snow removal being carried out in the districts of “Studentski“, “Izgrev“, “Pancharevo“ and “Bankya“. After midnight, the activities continued on the territory of all 24 districts of the capital.
Municipal roads were processed in the districts of „Pancharevo“, „Vitosha“, „Bankya“, „Novi Iskar“, „Vrabnitsa“ and “Kremikovtsi“, as well as the Southern Arc of the Sofia Ring Road.
Currently, over 90 snow removal machines continue to work in the areas: “Sredets“, “Krasno Selo“, “Vazrazhdane“, “Oborishte“, “Serdika“, “Poduyane“, “Slatina“, “Izgrev“, “Lozenets“, “Triaditsa“, “Krasna Polyana“, “Ilinden“, “Nadezhda“, “Iskar“, “Mladost“, „Studentski“, „Lyulin“, „Vrbnitsa“, „Novi Iskar“, „Kremikovtsi“, „Pancharevo“, „Vitosha“, „Ovcha kupel“ and „Bankya“.
On the territory of the „Vitosha“ Nature Park, snowfall was continuous, with temperatures up to –8 degrees. Sanding and pushing of snow mass was carried out on the two mountain roads: „Dragalevtsi“ district – hut „Aleko“ and „Boyana“ district – “Golden Bridges“.
The situation is being continuously monitored by the teams of the Sofia Inspectorate. The on-duty teams of the “Emergency Assistance and Prevention“ Directorate of the Sofia Municipality are conducting field inspections.
Currently, public transport is operating in winter conditions and is following its usual routes.
We urge drivers of motor vehicles to only drive in vehicles prepared for winter conditions, and to drive carefully and at a reasonable speed. We remind condominium owners, managers of commercial and office spaces to clean the adjacent spaces in front of the relevant buildings.
