“Marty is 100% TELK, I am his personal assistant. We go to rehabilitation, we go to speech therapists. He speaks, we can talk to him. I can't determine what he remembers and what he doesn't. He remembers people. His right hand trembles, he walks crookedly, he steps on his toes, he is not stable yet. He can't do anything on his own“. This is how he described it to “Telegraph“ the current condition of the 4-year-old child his father - Miroslav.
The boy was seriously injured in the terrible accident caused by 18-year-old Nikola Burgazliev in mid-August last year in Sunny Beach. Then the young man swept away a group of pedestrians, including Marty and his 35-year-old mother Hristina. The boy miraculously survived, but not his mother.
Burgazliev created the fatal melee, riding an ATV, on August 14. After the incident, the driver was initially released under house arrest, but then returned to the cell. It turned out that before getting on the machine and sweeping away people, he smoked marijuana. Due to suspicions of bias of the local investigators and protests from the relatives of the blackened family, the case was assigned to the National Investigation Service. After drugs were found in Burgazliev's blood, his charge was changed to a more serious one - causing a traffic accident under the influence of drugs and with possible intent. It also provides for a more severe punishment - 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment. Initially, Burgazliev and his defense claimed that the ATV was not technically sound. However, the auto-technical examination of the machine refuted them. The ATV was completely sound.
“I want Burgazliev to receive the most severe punishment possible“, said Hristina's blackened husband.
“For me, there will be no justice for this thing, that he killed my wife and that my child barely survived“, he added. He says that he is almost coping on his own and that the children are keeping him from completely collapsing. "It's hard for me, it's hard for me, I can't stand on my own two feet. I can't be both a mother and a father. It's very hard for me. From time to time, our people come, but they're not from here. There's no one to be by my side every day. I'm dealing with the two children alone," admits Miroslav and tells how his day goes. "I take the older one to school, then I pick him up," he says. Then there are rehabilitation sessions with Marty.
“My older son is also very confused. He doesn't show it. He also goes to a psychologist. Sometimes he's aggressive towards children, and other times he's never been like that. He copes in a different way," says the desperate father. “I'm still confused myself. I went to a psychologist. I don't want to believe what happened, I just can't get used to it. I always go back, I go to bed with this, I get up with this. I don't think about anything else. This will never come out of me, I'm just going back there. I don't have a normal dream“, he adds.
“The materials on the case were presented to the victims and their representatives, as well as to the accused and his defense attorneys“, commented to “Telegraph“ the spokesperson for the National Criminal Investigation Service Marian Marinov. “Then they were reported to the supervising prosecutor, who sent the case to the investigator for its conclusion with an opinion for the court. We are currently preparing the list of persons to be summoned. It will be sent to the investigator within a week and after that the prosecutor should submit it to the Burgas District Court. The case is large, and the documents are 20 volumes“, he added.
