Residents of the "Manastirski Livadi" neighborhood in Sofia protested over a planned relocation of the Boyanska Bara River, BNT reported.
The property is private and due to upcoming construction, the builder wants to move the bed of the Boyanska Bara River. People insist that the river remain there and that a real bridge be built over it. Now there is a temporary structure there that does not allow the water to flow properly. In 2020, it is this temporary structure that causes flooding.
Residents in the area want a city-wide moratorium on construction in properties that have riverbeds and water bodies. According to them, this will stop the threat to the life and health of Sofia citizens.
