"None of the American planes took off from "Vasil Levski" Airport in Sofia, stated the "Air Traffic Control" (ATC), as well as the operator of the capital's airport in connection with rumors that appeared on social networks, bTV specified.
Earlier in the day, after the National Security Council, Acting Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov announced that there was no direct military danger to the territory of Bulgaria in connection with the tension in the Middle East.
"The Bulgarian government is monitoring the situation in real time. Our main priority is to guarantee the national security and safety of Bulgarian citizens in the region," he said.
Gyurov said that Bulgaria is not a party to the conflict and is not participating in any way in the conduct of the military operation.
Acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov was also categorical that there is no direct military danger for our country, because we are not participating in the conflict.
„We cannot be a direct target for Iran, since there are no assets hit either in „Novo Selo“, nor in „Graf Ignatievo“, nor in the other sites that would be used or are planned or promised to be used in this operation“, Zapryanov said.
„It is not possible for us to be targeted as a country that actively participates in such an operation“, the military pointed out minister.
