Elena Darieva: Rumen Radev will try to remain the "master of silence" until the end - 1

The topic of the war in the Middle East and the feeling of imminent threat cannot help but resonate in our society. Still, I think that the topic of Iran will not be dominant, but the risks and consequences associated with it will be used in the election campaign by individual political formations. This was shared in an interview with Nova News by sociologist Elena Darieva, quoted by novini.bg.
She pointed out that some politicians, using the conflict in the Middle East, have already begun to sow fears among people about increasing fuel prices and migrant pressure on our border, although both threats were denied by the caretaker government.

Darieva recalled that Bulgaria is a “security consumer“, given the fact that we are members of NATO and the European Union.
Regarding the caretaker government, the sociologist predicted that attacks against it will likely intensify, especially after Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov announced that a revision of the previous government will be made.

“We see very active attacks against the Minister of the Interior by the Prosecutor's Office, we see attacks against the Minister of Foreign Affairs and against the Minister of Justice. The political formations from the former ruling majority are particularly active in their criticism of the caretaker cabinet, which wants to revise the actions of the previous cabinet of Rosen Zhelyazkov“, commented Darieva.

According to her, requests for fair and transparent elections are made through actions, not words, which is why she finds the cabinet's decision to replace all regional governors and heads of regional directorates of the Ministry of Interior correct. She added that after the vote on April 19, depending on the number of violations, it will become clear whether the caretaker government has coped with its task of organizing fair elections.
When asked about the coalition with which former President Rumen Radev enters the election campaign, Elena Darieva explained that in addition to the name of the coalition – “Progressive Bulgaria“, we know nothing else: neither the leaders of the lists, nor the program.

“People who address their expectations to Radev seem to be less interested in his program. He appears as a unifying vote against the status quo. People from the left political spectrum, with more conservative views, and Eurosceptics are oriented towards him. Rumen Radev will try to remain the “master of silence“ until the end. In this sense, the vote for him is largely emotional“, the sociologist concluded.
