Krum Zarkov, BSP: We see a caretaker government that is collapsing from the very beginning - 1

We see a caretaker government that is collapsing from the very beginning and this is a practical risk for the entire state. This was stated in the program “Panorama” by the chairman of “BSP – United Left“ Krum Zarkov.

He commented on who is responsible for the caretaker government in connection with Assen Vassilev's remark that the responsibility lies with President Yotova and the caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov.

"We have a disagreement regarding who is responsible for this caretaker government. And it is not a disagreement caused by bias towards a certain person, but a constitutional one. Mrs. Iliana Yotova, President Yotova, stated very clearly when she elected Andrey Gyurov that she was electing this person because she represents the most guarantees of independence from certain circles that have ruled our country for too long. From there, he presented his cabinet, which she signed within the framework of the constitutional procedure. This constitutional procedure is wrong. Dramatically wrong. Her very idea that you can catch and ask a person who had not thought about it until yesterday to form a cabinet in seven days is a guarantee of disaster. And those who changed the Constitution in this way bear responsibility for this. Unfortunately, the Constitutional Court was unable to reach a decision on a frankly harmful text and I think that the next National Assembly, in addition to the majorities for the Supreme Judicial Council, which are very important, should also deal with this issue. Because we have repeatedly come close to severe institutional disasters as a result of the poor, impossible application of this text. And now we see a caretaker government that is falling apart from the very beginning and this is a practical risk for the entire country."

Zarkov is categorical that the BSP will survive the difficult period the party is in.

"The reality is completely clear and I will cope together with my comrades. Because I see what has been happening recently and what happened at our Congress, this change, it is part of a general political trend and I feel support that makes me convinced that we will have no problems surviving this difficult period, as we have survived many others, in order to start to occupy again the place that is assigned to the only significant left-wing party in Bulgarian politics, namely the center."

Boyko Vassilev, BNT: You said in "Panorama" that we need "deep plowing". Did you turn out to be the person who can carry out this plowing?

Krum Zarkov, Chairman of the BSP: "I will do my job. The soil in the BSP is suitable. Things are happening. Of course, as you noted - there are votes, there are regions that have a harder time accepting the changes. But overall, the support is very strong. The mobilization is evident. And I have no doubts that we will go together in a renewal through respect, and where character needs to be shown, we are ready to show it. And this plowing, by the way, concerns all organizations in our country. All other parties in our country. All other structures in our country. All institutions in our country. This is something common. And it is happening. "
