BSP is arranging its last candidate lists before the elections. Today, the National Council of the party must approve ten more lists and their leaders, but the intrigue surrounding which of the previous deputies will find a place in them remains, news.bg informs.

We recall that the spark for the internal conflict came after the vote on the changes to the Electoral Code in parliament, when some of the deputies from "BSP - United Left" did not comply with the political decision of the party leadership. The Executive Bureau had called on the parliamentary group to support the presidential veto on the amendments that limit the number of non-EU polling stations to 20.

In the plenary hall, however, eight BSP deputies voted to overturn the veto. Among them were Borislav Gutsanov, Dragomir Stoynev, Kiril Dobrev, Petar Kanev, Maya Dimitrova, Deyan Dechev, Ivan Ivanov and Atanas Zafirov.
After the vote, the party chairman Krum Zarkov reacted sharply and stated that their actions constituted a violation of the party decision.

"They deliberately did not comply with a political decision of the Executive Bureau and contributed to the violation of the Constitution. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable and they will not be BSP deputies in the next parliament," Zarkov said.

Against this background, the question of whether some of these deputies will find a place on the election lists remains one of the main intrigues before the plenum.

Deputy Atanas Atanasov commented that final decisions are forthcoming.

"Who will finally make it to the lists, we will find out after the plenum. Chairman Krum Zarkov was eloquent on this issue, but ultimately the collective body will make decisions," he said.
Borislav Gutsanov himself was also asked whether he expects to be among the candidates.

"The statement was one-sided, but we must look at the trends. Politics is like love - it takes two. I think my hand will remain outstretched in the air, but not accepted", he said.

The deputy chairman of the BSP parliamentary group, Vladimir Georgiev, also admitted that some of the controversial names may not appear on the lists.

"You know that we have several options - a proposal, discussion in the National Council and in the Executive Bureau. Now we will see", he commented and added that he had heard that some of the deputies had even stated that they would not participate.

The most succinct response to the question was given by Kiril Dobrev, who said with irony: "I have long since fallen out of favor".

Today's BSP plenum must give a final answer as to whether the party will part ways with some of its old faces, or will find a way to preserve internal unity before the elections.
