Ivelin Mihaylov on the conflict in the Middle East: The Bulgarian position at the moment should be completely neutral - 1

The Bulgarian position at the moment should be completely neutral. This was commented by the leader of "Velicie" Ivelin Mihaylov on the air of "Speak Now" on BNT regarding the conflict in the Middle East.

"Following my question to the services, to military intelligence and other services - in what way is the security of Bulgarian citizens guaranteed from terrorist acts, which there are, what they said is guaranteed by foreign services. And the foreign services are currently busy guaranteeing their security and sometimes there is a possibility that foreign services will even take some actions somewhere to further inflame the tension. We have such cases from World War II and after that, which were taken. For this reason, because we have zero preparation for such a conflict, what we need to do is to be 100% neutral at the moment and focus on fixing the internal economic and political stability, because Bulgaria is in a very bad situation in very turbulent times. Because after Iran, there is a possibility that there will be changes in the territorial integrity of Turkey, because of the displacement of the Kurds and this thing will already rearrange the geopolitical picture. By this time, have we not stabilized, Bulgaria is facing very difficult times."

When asked whether a National Security Advisory Council under the President should be convened and whether Bulgaria should be covered by the so-called nuclear umbrella of France, Mihaylov replied:

"The coverage with American bases in the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, what happened is that they became a target. At the moment, we should no longer enter a territory that you see is currently radically changing throughout the world. And indeed, the world is being overwhelmed by actions that, first of all, have nothing to do with international law on both sides - international law is being violated and there are no rules and guarantees for any country. For this reason, neutrality comes first. It is pointless to hold more consultations at the moment, because we have nothing to say to these consultations, because we always act on a problem before it has even appeared. That's why there is situational planning, there should have been different situations, this must have been planned by the previous government as something probable."
