"I believe that at the moment there is an institutional problem before the Bulgarian prosecutor's office, which must be resolved in one way or another. And it is related to specific appointments to senior positions in the prosecutor's office.
In connection with the specifics that I have as facts and circumstances at my disposal, I have already turned to the Minister of Justice with a request for assistance. I also want to clarify something very important, namely why I am speaking now. Because only now have I become aware of certain circumstances related to crimes committed in office. I have filed a report about this. Whether they will be established is a matter of proof, but in my opinion they have been committed. I emphasize that I respect the presumption of innocence. My report is about possible crimes committed by the acting Prosecutor General, Mr. Borislav Sarafov.
This was stated on the program “Na Fokus” by the temporarily suspended Bulgarian European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva.
She emphasized that “the crimes in office were committed against her and that is why she allows herself to talk about it, and by name”. “Because when a crime has been committed or an allegation of such, it would be ridiculous to say that it is some unknown perpetrator”, she pointed out.
And she gave specifics in connection with the leaked recordings of her meeting in 2020 with the alleged leader of the criminal network for criminal influence in justice “The Eight Dwarfs” Petyo Petrov.
For the recording, Georgieva explained that the woman on it was actually her, but Rusinova - the Sofia city prosecutor - was not seen. It was she who organized Georgieva's meetings with Petrov at the "Osemte dvujeta" restaurant. The temporarily suspended Bulgarian European prosecutor admitted that she had participated in similar conversations there several times.
„I am on the recording, yes. The meeting took place after the entire hearing procedure before several committees had ended. Before that, this same colleague - the Sofia city prosecutor - had made requests to me to withdraw my documents, because I might like something else. I refused. After these strange events happened, to be honest, I became curious. She - I am talking about the Sofia city prosecutor, Mrs. Emilia Rusinova, told me that she had acquaintances who knew what was happening in this procedure. That is, the purpose of the meeting was to get me involved in a situation where this recording would be made, and subsequently, if I did not comply with instructions, which I never did - it would be used”, Georgieva said.
And she specified that she did not know Petyo Petrov before the meeting. “Obviously, he and Emilia Rusinova are close friends. I went to the meeting with her. But she is not visible in the recording because the video was cut. The fact that she is not in the frame tells me that this recording may have been sent by the Prosecutor General, because Rusinova is a senior official in the prosecutor's office”, she pointed out and added that she had been to the restaurant “Osemte dvujeta” two or three times.
And regarding the name of the political leader, sanctioned for corruption by the US and the UK“, whom she feared, she emphasized that “the threat did not come directly from him, but through an intermediary”. ”He (editor's note Delyan Peevski) is connected to the problems of the expansion of the gas storage facility in “Chiren”. There are witnesses there who have indicated the exercise of pressure, blackmail and the demand for bribes. He identified himself yesterday. I did not spread the signal, but I gave permission to the Minister of Justice by signing a declaration”, she emphasized.
