CEC: The state refused to seal the voting machines - 1

The proposal of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to the executive branch to provide the seals on the voting machines by the state was not adopted and therefore they were not placed by state officials. This was stated by the Chairperson of the CEC Kamelia Neykova from the parliamentary rostrum during a hearing in connection with the preparation of the upcoming early parliamentary elections, BTA specified.

So far, the seals on the machines have been placed by the contractor for the machine voting activities – “It was a norm“, Neykova explained in response to a question from “There is such a people“.

Each of the seals has a specific number and the CEC requires full information about the numbers and the place where they are placed, including the spare seals that could possibly be used in case of damage, she added.

Applications for voting outside the country are submitted by March 24. So far, the campaign for submitting applications is going better than in the last few elections, with over 13,000 applications submitted, said CEC Deputy Chairman Tsvetozar Tomov.

Even at the moment of submitting the application, its authenticity is checked and the information is announced on the CEC website, Tomov pointed out regarding the deletion of names from the lists.

We have also provided a reward for a member of the Section Election Commissions (SEC) who fills out their protocols without errors. We hope that this incentive will work, as it did in the 2024 elections, and we will provide much more serious training for filling out protocols, said Kamelia Neykova.

Earlier today from “There is such a people“ demanded a guarantee of machine voting through a 100% inspection of the machines before leaving the warehouse, to be done by civil servants, the placing of the so-called seals on the machines by civil servants after the inspection, and the delivery of the seals in question by the Council of Ministers, and not by "Siela Norma".
